CHAMPIONSHIP RECAP

CENTENE OUTSIDE

The Blue Division Championships were held in St.Louis over Presidents Day weekend, February 19-21, 2022.  Games were held at the stunning Centene Community Ice Center, home of the Lindenwood Lions & ACHA teams, NGHL member St Louis Lady Cyclones, and the practice rink of the St. Louis Blues. The Centene Community Ice Center opened in September 2019 and features four NHL-sized ice rinks including the Barn, a covered outdoor rink.  This Members-only event hosted teams in 12U, 14U, 16U, and 19U divisions.

We were fortunate to have lots of women’s hockey to enjoy during our stay at Centene – both the Lindenwood Lions WIH and Lindenwood ACHA played over the weekend.  Also, a big “thank you” to Lindenwood Lions Coach Kristi Kehoe who hosted a “Hockey in College” talk on Sunday.

HONORING OUR SENIORS

At the end of each season, the NGHL honors our seniors with a rose ? ceremony.  Part of our mission is to promote the advancement of elite players to the collegiate level. Some of the seniors acknowledged today will go on to play D1 or D3 hockey, others will play ACHA or intramural hockey. These are all exciting and valuable experiences that will add tremendously to these athletes’ post-secondary education.

We also strive to foster opportunities for women to pursue a career in hockey with the goal of ultimately becoming leaders within the league and member organizations. We sincerely hope that these seniors will use their youth and college hockey experience to improve youth hockey programs in their community, showing the next generation of girls how they can succeed in the sport. Players, there will always be a pair of young eyes ready to look up to you and they will marvel at your skills and experience. Support and nurture them!
